Patterns running since childhood

“I chose this approach because it’s no bullshit, not wishy washy, no spirit/soul/mind. There’s no imagination involved and I’ve always been suspicious of the power of imagination and thinking. It’s very grounded in reality. You can feel it. It’s raw and authentic. Everything about it your body already just knows naturally. The whole approach just feels like coming home.”
Kyra arrived already knowing something was wrong. She’d spent years in a cycle she could see clearly but couldn’t stop, high achievement followed by collapse, feelings pushed down until they erupted, relationships she couldn’t navigate because she couldn’t identify what she was actually feeling. The pattern wasn’t hidden from her. It just kept repeating anyway.
She’d tried what was available: self-help reading, some counselling, spiritual frameworks. None of it held. Every approach had exceptions, edge cases, circumstances where it broke down. The thinking tools she’d been given were too slow and too surface-level for what was actually driving her. When she ended her most significant relationship, playing out the exact pattern she’d sworn to never repeat with someone that important, the grief of it finally brought her to Matthew. She knew she had a problem, and she knew she could trust him.
The sessions consistently ran past two hours. Alongside them, she meditated daily and used the Undo app. The benefit of the sessions wasn’t more explanation. They gave her contact, with sensations she’d been carrying her whole life but couldn’t name, with the sadness she’d felt daily in her chest but had never been able to acknowledge, with the parts of herself she’d been fighting and escaping. A significant turning point came when she recognised that trying to change herself was never going to work. Once she learned to accept herself as she is in any moment, things began to resolve on their own.
She no longer treats her reactions as problems to fix. She knows they’re information. Her relationships, her decisions, her capacity to be present, all of it changed. Not through effort, but through contact.
Years of daily stress and nervousness

“It [previous modalities] didn’t fully work because they aimed to change the nervous tension rather than meet it as it was, which is all it wanted and needed… I wanted to feel better so I could function better in daily life, but that changed to not want to change but instead learn to live with myself as I am. And then the stress isn’t that bad. And it goes away anyway.”
Erlend had been wired for years. Not dramatically unwell, functional, working, maintaining relationships, but running on a level of stress and nervous tension that never lifted. The constant overthinking, the body always slightly tight, the exhaustion that came not from what he was doing but from what he was carrying. He’d worked through the available options: various meditations, breathwork, herbs, exercise, PEMF. Everything helped temporarily. Nothing reached it.
What he identified clearly about why none of it worked: every approach was aimed at changing the nervous tension rather than meeting it. The nervousness wasn’t the problem. It was the signal. And every technique he’d tried was pointed in the wrong direction.
He came to Matthew through a referral. The work combined direct sessions, daily meditation, the Undo app, YouTube talks and a retreat. The retreat, in his words, knocked it out of the park, it went deep enough to begin real processing in a way that day-to-day practice alone hadn’t reached.
What shifted wasn’t the removal of stress but the relationship to it. The need to control outcomes loosened. The wired-but-tired feeling, constant for years, settled. Sleep, digestion, skin health all improved. The anxiety that had been consuming his energy was no longer a fight within him.
The wired feeling is no longer the background of his life. Stress arrives and moves through. What he carries now is lighter, not because the circumstances changed, but because he stopped fighting what he had been holding.
25 years working with Matthew
Anxiety 10 → 1 Mood 3 → 8 Stress 10 → 5
“When a friend shared her experience of working with Matthew, I was arguing against his approach without knowing much about it. The reason was that I was afraid. I already knew in my gut that this approach was what I needed. I knew what that was going to take from me to step up and face the truth of my life. It was a very different feeling to all the other fear that consumed me daily. It was a healthy fear, and thank goodness I had the sense to know the difference and move forward.”
Alison had been searching for 25 years before she found what she was looking for, not because she wasn’t trying, but because nothing she tried was working at the level where the problem actually lived. She saw around ten doctors, multiple specialists, psychologists, hypnotherapists. She tried yoga, meditation retreats, diet changes, breathing techniques, Buddhism. She was on antidepressants. The phobias remained. The recurring infections continued. The anxiety and depression, which had been present for over a decade, didn’t shift.
She was clear about why none of it worked: it was all aimed at symptoms. No one was getting to the cause.
When a friend shared her experience of working with Matthew, Alison resisted. Not because she was sceptical but because she already knew, somewhere, that this was what she’d been looking for, and she knew what it would ask of her. She went anyway.
The work included sessions with Matthew, regular retreats, and occasional deep tissue massage over 25 years of ongoing engagement. What the sessions reached that nothing else had: the truth of her marriage, the trauma she’d completely dissociated from, and the physical conditions that were directly tied to both. She came off antidepressants. The medication had been preventing her from feeling, and without feeling, there was no resolution possible.
The results are documented and lasting. Phobias: fully resolved. Chronic skin conditions: resolved. Recurring urinary and respiratory infections: resolved. Depression and anxiety: stable. She has worked for herself full time since 2005. She describes her health, fitness and physical strength at 56 as better than average for her age.
Twenty-five years of searching ended when she stopped looking for something to fix the symptoms and let the work reach what was causing them. None of the physical conditions have returned. She hasn’t needed medication in two decades.
Carried unresolved pain his whole life
Anxiety 8 → 3 Mood 4 → 6 Stress 10 → 6
“It was the only approach that did not have any holes in it. Through all my time working with Matthew, I am still yet to find a flaw or an inconsistency that would damage the credibility of this approach… It will destroy everything fake in your life and leave you with only what is real. It is the most difficult thing you will do but it will reward you more than any other undertaking.”
Nick’s presenting experience was confusion. Not anxiety about specific things, not a single identified trauma, a pervasive sense that something was not right, that life shouldn’t be this hard, without being able to explain why. He’d had that sense as long as he could remember. He kept himself going with meditation, psychological treatment and rigorous exercise. It managed the surface. The root cause stayed untouched.
The confusion affected everything. He couldn’t sustain relationships. He isolated. His work was confined to repetitive tasks because he couldn’t trust his own thinking well enough to do creative work. He got sick regularly despite the exercise. The body, he later understood, was carrying something it hadn’t been allowed to finish.
He came to Matthew in crisis. Not looking at alternatives. The only option left was to get to the bottom of it or not be here. The sessions were two or more hours each, focused on reaching the pain through regression and conversation. Between sessions: monthly meditation days online, Undo app talks and mediations, a 10-day retreat. An hour of meditation daily.
Sexuality, physical confidence, emotional regulation, financial stability, every area of his life changed after the pain underneath it was reached.
The key moment arrived during regression: the return of memories of abuse he hadn’t had access to. His words: his whole life clicked into place. There was a before and after. Not a gradual improvement but a realignment from what had been an illusion to what was true and real. He has remained that way since.
He is no longer separated from what happened. The confusion that had shaped every relationship, every working day, every physical response resolved when the pain underneath it was finally reached. That didn’t come from understanding. It came from contact.
Came for business performance, found something else.

“When my business crashed and my bad behaviour and facade were exposed, my pain was on display, and Matt and Cate looked at me without a single morsel of judgement. At first that was weird. But it gave me space to question: do I really need to be judged? I felt seen for how I was, without being judged, and that allowed the healing to begin.”
Julian didn’t arrive looking for this. He came through work, and he came thinking he was mostly fine, high performing, ambitious, convinced that what he needed was more edge, not less. A retreat, in his thinking at the time, might sharpen him further. What he discovered instead was that almost everything he believed was serving him was actively destroying him.
He’d spent his adult life running hard toward success while carrying a felt sense he wasn’t enough and never quite arriving. Relationships suffered. His health suffered, constant burnout, recurring colds, glandular fever, tonsillitis. The effort was enormous. The return never matched it.
The significant turning point came after his business crashed and the facade he’d maintained was exposed. Julian looked at him without judgement. Not as a performance of acceptance, but simply, as a fact. That, Julian describes, gave him the space to start questioning whether he needed to be judged. And from there, things began to move.
Two retreats and regular sessions. The physical discomfort during the work was real, back pain, knee pain, anger coming up through the stillness. The pressure he’d been applying to himself for his entire adult life started to ease. He stopped trying to manipulate outcomes and recognised where he’d been doing it. He started liking himself, as he is, without needing to be different.
He stopped performing and started functioning. His body had been burning out for years, it settled. The sense of not being enough, which had been running everything, lost its grip. What replaced it wasn’t confidence built from achievement. It was simply himself, without the interference.
